Parish Online News - Welcome Back

Welcome Back

Welcome back everyone, we hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year.

Here at Parish Online we're already working hard on upgrades and thinking about how we can make the software the best it can be.

We have exciting things planned this year, which will make Parish Online an even more efficient tool and we can't wait to share them with you all.

Don't forget, if your council are planning on using digital mapping for any interesting projects this year, please download our case study template and send us your story.

Planning Ahead for Flooding

With Storm Christoph currently causing towns and villages across the country to be on high alert for flooding, we want to wish everyone in vulnerable areas our best and hope homes and businesses stay unaffected.

There's a lot of useful information for Local Councils on extreme weather events. For example, NALC have produced an article on The Property Flood Resilience Code, which highlights the importance of property flood resilience measures and the steps needed to reduce the impact of any future floods.

Over the years we've seen many Local Councils use Parish Online for flooding related work, such as:

  • Plotting historic flood events and claims (read the example from Uffington here)
  • Recording surface water flooding hotspots
  • Overlaying Environment Agency and NRW datasets when conducting Neighbourhood Plans or Planning application assessments.

The priority now is to stay safe and follow Government and Environment Agency guidance, and know that the team at Parish Online are here to support you with our software and mapping advice.
